Home Sweet Home

My first day in Port Barton wasn’t an easy one.  There was a bit of confusion, miscommunication and misunderstandings.  On top of that I was having problems with the wifi, my phone and getting a hold of B-Rod.  Fortunately I was able to connect with B and am just generally feeling better about things.
I’m currently staying in a cottage in the middle of the village.  It is cute on the outside and clean and basic on the inside.  I am staying here for a month.  I’ll see how it goes, but may look into moving for the second or third month.  Part of being here is being by the ocean and I’d kind of like to experience living in a place where I can actually see the ocean and sit on my deck watching the sunset.  However, living among the locals as opposed to in the tourist area is also a good thing.  We’ll see.
Here is the current view from my deck.
A place in the yard to study and hang out.
I’m staying on the end unit.  Next door is another student with her 2 kids and the last unit is for her nanny.
The inside is pretty basic and boring.  There isn’t a kitchen, so I may be doing restaurant food for the next 3 months.
Here’s a few shots around Port Barton:
There aren’t really any jeepneys, but I have passed by a couple of these already.
These are called Bangkas and there are plenty of them around.  Dawno, can this be my homework instead?
It is currently low season, and there is literally no one using the beach.  Are you sure there’s no one that wants to come visit?

  1. Deal! That sounds like an awesome homework substitution. And, I would LOVE to come visit… if only I didn't have to go to work. Sounds like things are picking up. Happy to read about your adventures, and everyone on Thursday says Hi!
