Destination Ontario

Flight passes are awesome!!  However, you have to be open to plans changing at the last minute and not necessarily getting to the destination you planned on in the first place. With a few days off together, B-Rod and I decided to go on an adventure to Ottawa … we ended up here instead.

The early flight to Ottawa was booked solid, and we missed the early flight to TO by mere minutes. At noon we were on a flight and expected smooth sailing until the wind started to pick up. Our flight ended up on the runway for about 45 minutes as we watched things like this forming outside of our windows.

When we were finally cleared to take off, we had one of the bumpiest rides I’ve ever experienced before getting above the clouds and eventually arriving to a warm sunny Toronto evening.

We headed downtown from the airport by using public transportation all for free!!  We tried to pay … twice, but things kept happening where no one would take our money!
We got downtown (and got a bit lost), got some eats and found a place to stay.
Today we rented a car, headed out of the city, …
… spent a bit of time stuck in traffic, …
… went past the industrial area of Hamilton …
… to get to our final destination
B-Rod and I enjoy walking, so when B made friends with someone on the flight who told us to go past all the paid parking to get to a free spot where we’d have a bit of a walk to the falls, we were excited : )  it’s nice to get away from the crowds and see some things that aren’t on the tourist stretch.
Before long, we were with the rest of the crowd

Of course we had to do the boat tour, and I’d do it again in a heart beat.
Despite the crowd and the thundering sound of the water, I found it so calm. I was awestruck and there was a point where I just felt so grateful that B & I have the opportunity to do cool things like this.

Afterwards, we headed over to Niagra on the Lake for supper, then sat by the beach to gaze over the water to see Toronto and just take it all in. It was a pretty, pretty good day!!
Tomorrow is all about exploring Toronto. Looking forward to it!
