Week 4 has been all about the 3rd Chakra. The 3rd Chakra (Manipura) is about will power and going out in the world to do things. It’s based on the fire element and involves having the energy to go for it. Interestingly, I haven’t had the drive to do much of anything. I haven’t even read the full chapter in my book yet!! I’m guessing this is a chakra that I need to work on!
I did teach my first class though and not only that, I volunteered to go first! Maybe I do have some of the Manipura energy flowing through me after all! It actually went really well. I was nervous. However, it felt like it’s been awhile since I have enjoyed teaching something! It actually felt good. We are still focusing on the breath, so I did a breath training or pranayama class. Did you know the average person only uses about 10% of their lung capacity and many diseases are linked to a lack of oxygen? Want to learn more about how to breath more deeply? Come see me and I’ll show you when I get back : )
The last day of the brown rice fast is today, but I only made it to day 6. The fast is meant to kick start your immune system and your nervous system and give your digestive system a break. David said it is meant to mellow you out emotionally, but it just seemed to cause irritation and annoyance in all of us (poor Paolo. He was the only one who didn’t do it, so he’s been surrounded by 4 irritable girls for the last few days). I had been coming to Deep Gold with Joy because she got the girls here to make the batches of rice for us. Day 6 was the day I moved in, so we decided to have a beer and ditch the fast because we want to actually also have some fun while we’re here! Danielle really needs to complete this fast and get on track for healthy eating for her health (she’s the one with arthritis), so Joy and I have been hiding our cheating in order to support her and encourage her to continue. We’ve had mostly brown rice, we’ve just been cheating by having the free breakfast at our resort and some coconuts. I may try it again sometime – DawnO are you in? I have no doubts we could convince B-Rod and RobO to join us : ), but right now just didn’t feel like the time. Paolo came by to go swimming with us the other day and actually commented about how much happier we seem these days than the other 2 girls : )
Class is done at noon today and then we’re off to the “big” city of Puerto to renew our visas, eat some real food and have some fun!
I'm in on the brown rice cleanse for sure! And you're hired to do a breathing session for us during a Thursday class.
I can relate to your stories about people dying to get to Canada… we had the same experiences in Guyana. The grass is always greener I guess. Looks amazing around there!
