Hey Palawan

Said goodbye to my cousins today and boarded a flight to Puerto Princesa in Palawan.  the flight left early, so arrived about 20 minutes early . . . . I’ve never had that happen before.  Checked into my hotel then did what I do best in new places – walked everywhere and took in as much as I could.  I haven’t really had a sunny day in the Philippines yet.  I guess I have plenty of time for that!  Here’s some of the sights from today.

My hotel is about 2 minutes from the airport (I could have walked from there!) just off the main road down a dirt road.

I’m down in the quieter end of the city.

But, once you hit this sign, it starts to get busy.

Went to wander off the main drag, turned a corner and there it finally was . . . . . the ocean.  YES!!!

Unfortunately I had to stop myself from running there.

Any guesses as to what the guy in the small boat is doing?

Damn it!  Too early for the street food.

Finally found some snacks.  Salted peanuts (which Beauty and I were talking about and which is for me THE snack that makes me think of the Philippines – trust me, they just taste different here) and some kind of pancake thing (meh)

Off to Port Barton tomorrow to finally see my temporary home.

  2. Thanks for reminding me, bring back some peanuts. Over 20 years since I was there and still crave them.
