Almost Gone

I’m hitting the road bright and early tomorrow morning for my 5th annual Utah trip. I heading down solo, but will likely meet up with some other people from the Edmonton area. Riding alone isn’t the issue, riding alone in Utah is. I don’t know any of them, but since they saw I was planning on riding alone, they offered to have me join their group (three separate groups). I managed to borrow a Spot emergency beacon from a friend, since I thought my days of riding alone in the middle of nowhere were over. I do plan on riding a fair bit by myself, since there is no better way to clear your head, and I have no idea how capable they are on a bike. I plan on riding what I feel is easy stuff, and I’m not going to take any risks. I have a new-to-me bike that has seen nothing but ice racing in my hands, so I’m excited to see how well it does compared to the old one in the rough stuff.

I also received some good news yesterday about a new job, and I may even crack a little smile now and again. It’s been a difficult 5 weeks waiting to hear, but the waiting isn’t over, since I don’t officially have a start date, and it will be another month minimum for that to happen. Oh well, at least I know they have plans on taking me, and that is a load off my mind.

So, that said, I have just a few more things to do today, including working the night shift (pfft! When is that last time I went flying on nights?) , but first thing tomorrow morning, I’ll drive around the block, hook on to the trailer I share with a friend, grab my bike gear from the garage, and beat it south.

Later

B
