Our First Boat Trip

Today was boat trip plan round 2.  One of the guys, Damian, is only here for one more week and then he goes back to work (and our group of 6 becomes a group of 5).  He’s just learned to dive and really wanted to go out this weekend, so even though it looked kind of cloudy (there really hasn’t been any sunny days since we’ve been here), we decided to go out on the boat.  He was going diving and the rest of us were snorkeling.  The plan was for us to make a few stops on different islands, but we only ended up on one.  We spent most of the day huddling under some shelter waiting for the rains to pass.  Boo rainy season!!  It was nice to get in a boat and in the water though, hopefully we can do it again when the sun is shining.

PS. Happy belated birthday Putter!!
There’s 2 dive shops in Port Barton, but this is the oldest one and has the best reputation.  The owner is a really interesting German lady named Doris.
Getting ready to launch on our first (of possibly many?) boat rides.
Our first (and only) stop was a place called German island.  Many of the islands in this area are uninhabited.  This one had one house where the caretaker of the island lives.  They live on the island and maintain the beach areas.
This would be perfect . . . . . . if the sun was shining!!  I guess it could be worse.  I could be working right now!
One of the guys grilling up our lunch.
Unfortunately the majority of our time was spent huddling under this shed as the heavy rains passed through and we waited for it to clear so we could head for home.
You prbably can’t see the how heavy the rain was, but even the dog was looking for shelter!
