Pre-Pyramid Adventures

It’s our last day until we start our program tomorrow.  We got up, went back to the breakfast place from yesterday and then headed to the boat dock to head towards San Pedro.  We decided to go here and stay the night so that we could do a hike up one of the volcanoes and to check out a different town along the lake.  It’s a nice, hilly little town which is kind of known as party central.  Not exactly what either of us are really into, but it’s good to experience the different vibe.  We are actually staying a bit away from “Gringoville”, so it’s nice to check out the scene, but have a place to retreat to when/if it gets to be a bit much.

The place we are staying at is a bit different than our last place.  I will just say it IS clean, but we’ve decided this is going to be our lowest standard.  A bathroom with no door and no toilet seat (The first rule of our bathroom is you do not talk about the happenings in our bathroom!!), a rock hard mattress and DawnO has an affectionate name she calls the bed I’m sleeping on, but you’ll have to ask her about that if you’re interested.  It isn’t scary though . . . . just a bit different (and cheaper) than the last place we were in.

We went to do the hike today, but we went up in the afternoon (most people go in the morning) during the heat of the day and figured that what we could see from the first lookout was probably the best view we would get (it was also a bit cloudy/hazy up top).  We did some more wandering around and street food eating and are soon off to look for some supper eats.  Tomorrow we’re off to Las Piramides which will be our home for the next month.  The place doesn’t have wifi and I didn’t get a sim card, so though I might try to post some pics now and then, you may only hear from me sporadically over the next month.  Stay tuned and I’ll share when I can : )

Let’s not forget the food:
Empanadas

Ceviche

tortillas filled with beans

I saw this pic the minute we got into town.  I knew that was happening today.
