Yo Pana!

I left Antigua around lunchtime yesterday to head for Panajachel.  This is the first stop for most people when they are heading to Lake Atitlan.  The plan was to meet my friend DawnO at a little hotel she had reserved for us.  I’ll just say that DawnO ended up having her own “adventure” on the way to our meeting spot, and I wasn’t sure that we were actually going to end up meeting.  She made it, things turned out ok (as they always do!), and you can read all about her adventure on robodawno.blogspot.ca

I ended up on a shuttle bus for touristas to Pana.  I had originally wanted to take the direct bus, but there were a series of misunderstandings, and I didn’t end up finding the tourist information to verify that I did in fact know what I was talking about until AFTER I had purchased the “tourista special.”  It ended up being a cramped, yet interesting ride with some fellow Canucks dominating the back of the van.

I made it into Pana, got to the guest house, wandered around a bit and waited for DawnO’s arrival.  When I couldn’t wait anymore (I was fungry by this time), I headed out for some street food eats and started to formulate a plan in my head of what I was going to do next and how I was going to figure out if things were okay with DawnO.  Luckily, when I got back she was there and we could both go back to our original plans.

Today, we spent the day exploring and walking around Pana.  After a day of wandering we are chilling out before we go to watch the sunset tonight.  Up for tomorrow is a boat ride to San Pedro and a possible hike up one of the volcanoes.  Dela Frijoles!
