BKK … part 2

We are enjoying Bangkok! The only problem for me when we visit big cities (which I do enjoy) is there is so much to see and do, and we’re not very good at taking time to chill out. So, it’s been a busy few days.

We have done what we often do when we travel . . . . . walk around the area we’re staying, spend time by the water, figure out public transportation and just generally explore the city.

We visited Wat Po. A temple with a huge reclining Buddha. It was cool to see but really busy until you took the time to go to the back area where it suddenly became quiet and calm. Those are the areas of temples I enjoy being in the most!

Wat Po is famous for their Thai massage school, so I couldn’t give up the opportunity to have a massage there.

We also spent time exploring Chatuchak market. It’s the largest
market in all of Thailand where most stalls are open on
Saturday and Sunday. We were there on a Friday, so some of
the stalls were open, we got the gist, but not so much all of the crowds (did I mention we like things a bit quieter?) There’s a map with a listing of all of the different sections and the place is HUGE! We totally got lost in there and can’t imagine getting your bearings when it’s full of people.

My favourite section was the “postcards, souvenirs and pets” section, not only because of the weird combo but also because of . . . . . well . . . . . .

B-rod’s favourite store (can’t remember the section) appeared to be the only “plastic bag and tape section” He was able to identify the plastic bag that Piddy used for her lunches that I brought back for her many years ago from Cambodia!

As always our travels somewhat revolve around food, and we’ve been eating well.

Mangos galore and plenty o’ mango sticky rice!

We don’t enjoy pop at home, but for some reason a good ol’ cold coke (or in this case an este) really hits the spot in the tropical heat

We do love our oatmeal, but here it has a tropical twist

Curries and soups and snacks have also been filling us up!

… stay tuned for part 3 of our BKK exploration

Sadly, there are issues with Google Blogger, so there may or may not be anything further, at least while we are mobile.
