After enjoying a bit of time in Kamloops, the whole family loaded up two cars to make a joint trip to our next destination in the Okanagan. We would spend a few days together at a family condo before setting out on separate adventures of BC for the following week. Because we don’t get to see them often, and they’re still at the age where they think we’re cool 😝, A & M became our passengers for the journey and we set out on our way.We played a bunch of “would you rather,” told some jokes, listened to some tunes until eventually we settled into our own quiet time. B-Rod driving, me watching the scenery go by, and the chillens doing what chillens probably have always done on road trips since the beginning of time (it just looks slightly different with every different period). We rolled into Penticton, got comfortable and basically just continued to chillax for the next few days. Did a bit of wandering, but I think all of us had the same goal of pretty much being on, in and around the water and lake as much as we could. How convenient that our condo was just a couple blocks away from Skaha Lake. Some of the highlights included:
- Seeing the PM on BC Day. We didn’t quite get the selfie we were hoping for to impress one of our family members, but B-Rod & my bro got in pretty close!
- Leaving the kids behind with a family member so we could try out a brewery with the best nachos ever!!
- Lots of time at the lake. Sure it was busy, but it was still really nice on those smokin’ hot days.
- Leaving one family behind for the day to head across the bridge to Kelowna where we shopped for fruit, visited a winery and had a wonderful supper and visit with B-Rod’s sister and brother-in-law.
- Paddleboarding early in the morning on the channel which connects Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake. If you’ve ever been here in the summer, you know it’s PACKED with people . . . . unless you get there by 7AM in which case it’s only the 2 of you who are paddleboarding on it. My one regret on this trip is that I didn’t do this more than once!
- Getting a set of family tattoos which included . . . . . . . . . a dandelion wish for S, . . . . . . . . a paper airplane for me, . . . . . . . a shark for the shark fanatic, . . . . . . . . a bunny for the manly pilot, . . . . . . . . a pig for the cop, and . . . . . . a skull for the sweet girl. I’d show you mine, but they didn’t last the seven weeks that they were supposed to😂We were pretty lucky that it wasn’t too smoky while we were there. It wasn’t really until the last few days that the smoke started to roll in and get thick. I ❤️ the Okanagan and the lakes in BC and need to spend more time here! I could get used to lake livin’!
I miss my wittle wabbit *sniff*
